Ascend Recovery Systems was founded by Andrew Gilchrist, an endurance athlete based in Wellington, New Zealand.

As an endurance athlete, Andrew was always searching for ways to get that slight edge. After trying every quick fix available, he kept coming back to the same conclusion, recovering properly was the most effective advantage he could give himself.

What drew him to compression therapy specifically was simple. It's passive. After a hard training session you can sit down, slip on the boots, and let them do the work. No effort required. Just results.

Working in high performance gym environments every day, Andrew also saw firsthand how seriously athletes treat their training, and how little attention recovery gets in comparison. The tools existed. They were just expensive, imported, and out of reach for most New Zealand athletes.
